Title: Director, Business Development, Sagana Capital

Reports To: Business Unit Lead and Co-Founder   

Location: Remote - due to operational requirements this role needs to be based in Europe (Germany, UK, Switzerland preferred)

Opportunity:

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to support the growth of Sagana’s advisory business by inspiring families and foundations to become our clients and fulfil their vision.


This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in unlocking and deploying purpose-driven capital alongside some of the world’s most forward-thinking families, foundations, and institutions. You will drive new business development, build trust with UHNWIs and family offices, foundation trustees and help shape the future of impact investing at a global scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and Client Engagement: Build and manage trusted relationships with UHNWIs, family offices, foundation trustees, and other catalytic capital providers aligned with Sagana’s mission.
  • Lead qualification: Own the pipeline of prospects and qualify most promising leads for the senior team.
  • Business Development Strategy: Contribute to Business Development strategies including geographic focus, priority wealth networks and opportunities through analysis and recommendations of current efforts.
  • Positioning & Communications: Craft compelling and consistent narratives that bring Sagana’s differentiated offering to life. Generate curiosity and excitement in BD prospects.
  • Events & Representation: Represent Sagana at relevant global convenings, summits, and ecosystem gatherings to build meaningful relationships and amplify reach.
  • CRM & Reporting: Maintain consistent CRM discipline, capture meeting notes for BD team, track key engagement KPIs.
  • Team co-ordination and project management: Turn strategy into action — align the BD team, assign clear ownership, and ensure follow-through on every commitment.


Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, including business development, fundraising, investor relations, or strategic partnerships – preferably in impact investing, venture capital, philanthropy, or blended finance.
  • Existing network of UHNWIs and family offices. A demonstrated ability of attracting, engaging, and retaining UHNWIs and family offices as clients. An existing book of business is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complexity into compelling narratives.
  • Skilled at deep listening to understand what truly drives each client, then partnering with the capital team to design strategies that bring their vision to life.
  • Experience cultivating high-trust relationships with diverse global stakeholders across finance, philanthropy, and social enterprise sectors.
  • Deep alignment with Sagana’s thematic focus areas and a passion or commitment for mobilizing capital toward climate and social equity outcomes.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Affinity, HubSpot), pipeline management, and reporting dashboards.
  • Effective collaboration across multicultural, distributed teams and time zones.
  • Fluency in English; fluency in German is beneficial.
